Even your dogs can be considered as a-listers when it comes to clothes. An extensive wardrobe can be found certain stores that specifically aim to dress up your companions. However, fashion is not the only advantage of pet clothing as this would ensure your canine friend’s protection against natural elements such as cold and heat.

Part of your care for the dog is to always prioritize the convenience over fashion, although you have to consider the latter to some extent. Their attire should depend on the season and how it would best compliment your dog. For example, getting a very tight dress would not work for a collie. Fur coat is going to be damaged and having them wear it amidst sweltering heat may cause their body temperatures to go even higher. Pet clothing stresses on evaluation of factors such as the quality of the material, the season and the breed of dog that you have. Since at most times these are expensive, better opt for one that will last longer and have more uses.

Dogs that are older are in more need of the warmth factor of clothes, especially during the cold season. Their body is more prone to losing heat even after a walk, and a good pair of shirt will prevent them from getting cold all over.

Pregnant dogs are more likely to find comfort in warm blankets than with pet clothing. The bulging tummies may uncomfortable enough and the additional strain may be too much. Investing in a good quality one can also give warmth to newborn pups.

Remember to avoid clothes that have bells, laces, or ribbons where your pet can easily scratch into or bite with. By then, the ruined dress will only be of minimal importance since you would have to worry about them eating, choking or being strangled with. If you wanted more design without fearing for their safety, opt for more colorful clothes and achieve the same results.

On the other hand, active animals such as golden retrievers are not advised to be dressed up as it may restrict with their movements. Same is true with big dogs such as Rottweilers and mastiffs. Smaller breeds such as Chihuahuas are easier to don with pet clothing as they are dainty in terms of actions.

Finding a shop with the exact clothing suitable for the dog’s sense of style is not difficult nowadays. Some may even be custom made and patterned to the owner’s fashion statement as well, although it comes with a price. This extends to even the collars, eye wears, and walking leashes that are good in quality and fashionably designed as well.

If you are to purchase pet clothing for the first time, the first step is to try them on your dog and see if they are in anyway irritated by the sudden hindrance. Best understand their feelings just as you would with forced dresses. Being able to tell what your best friend finds comfort and discomfort with is a good sign of establishing a long term relationship.
